Build media capacity
Support independent and government media institutions and journalists in Yemen, building capacity for professional, credible media.
A Yemeni non-profit media organization founded in May 2020, placing journalists, knowledge, and the public interest at the heart of its work.
The beginning of our journey
YHMS was founded by journalists, human rights defenders, and community leaders of both genders, with experience in media, human rights, peacebuilding, research, and studies.
It was established in response to Yemen’s political divisions since March 2015 and the resulting fragmentation and politicization of journalism. YHMS works to restore journalistic integrity through fair, impartial professional standards, stronger ethics, and efforts to counter hate speech.
